I moved~

Posted by Ryan - August 13th, 2012

Barely an hour or so away from Chicago depending on traffic. Still have some shit in storage I've yet to bring here, namely my old computer desk.

Been busy. Only had internet connection from phone until tonight. Beenreal busy.

Had a few random temp jobs. Work as a mover being the most hard yet rewarding one.

Talked to a recruiter. Did most of my paperwork pre MEPS thanks to having already done a lot of it a couple years ago when I first joined the Army. Going to MEPS this weekend probably for my physical. So super busy~

So how are you guys lol

I've taken up airsoft. Got my 2nd game next week and after my 3rd I'll be able to get my own weapon. I've spent around £600 on gear already (multicam is hilariously expensive) but it's bloody awesome. Battlefield and Cowwadoody don't even compare. Good luck with the Army, and try to remember that there's no respawns :)

genital warts bro.... genital warts....

haha, MEPS was a loooong day for me... I'm heading to the Army too, shipping off to boot towards the end of January. Let's be Army buddies!

I probably won't ship until a couple months after you, still too much crap I'm busy with at the moment.

What's your MOS?

yiff yiff

Are you proposing something~

68W, health care specialist. So if I successfully go through all my training, I could end up as a medic.

Oh jesus, your AIT must take months to complete. I'll probably be going into something technical though so I'll probably end up with the same long training.

By the way, don't forget to ask your recruiter about passing whatever physical/drills in future soldiers training so you can get E-2. I made the mistake of not bothering last time but I'll definitely not do so again.

I'm still waiting to see if my 2 years of college will get me enough credits to qualify for E2, and I'm hoping that at some point I'll be able to beat myself back into shape to qualify for E3 before I ship off. And yeah AIT's like 11 weeks for me, not counting more specialized training and education that I may elect to undergo.

Are you re-enlisting? Your last sentence sounded like you've been through the hoops before.

I'd like to think that everyone screws up one way or another the first time they do something new, and my first enlistment was no exception for me. I won't get into details, but if I had made a few more changes I probably would have finished training and still be in the military.

Also, remember to take your PT scores very seriously. Even though you'll be doing a non combat MOS and possibly train with female soldiers, (they make it much easier, although I don't agree with that for equality's sake) getting ready for basic should be your primary concern now that you have a ship date.

If I were you, I'd talk to your recruiter now about taking a 1-1-1 test and making sure you at least pass that before shipping. Training with future soldiers every week will help you get there too. I could talk your ear off about what you'll be dealing with in basic, but infantry basic and non infantry basic can be drastically different nowadays from what I've seen/heard.
